Affordable Housing Project
In fulfilling honors core curriculum requirements, I opted for registering for Hon232: Improving Population Health through Social Entrepreneurship this Spring. Not only did the class fulfill the honors natural science requirement, but it also counted for writing credit as well as a general requirement (individuals and societies).

This class faced me with my lack of career preparedness. As the weeks passed, I found myself surrounded by the most brilliant classmates who are participating in and leading projects that are creating a real impact on campus and around the country. Our professor was also an author and an entrepreneur who blessed our class with inspiring role models and guests from his social and professional networks.

Two of the main assignments in this class were:
1) An individual exploration of a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) we were passionate about
2) A group project proposing an innovative solution for a global issue with a campus-specific action plan

The latter project allowed me to incorporate knowledge from my role as a Resident Adviser as I was part of the affordable housing group. That said, I still practiced separating the class from work-specific elements/information for the protection of resident privacy, etc. In brainstorming our solution, we connected with the Assistant Director of Housing & Food Services as well as visited vacant spaces in the population health building as these spaces were part of our proposed solution. A 3D model that I created for my group's final project is attached below:
