Phil242 Intro to Medical Ethics
This class was challenging in both academic and social ways. I had to put an interpersonal conflict with a student from prior to the class behind me in order to succeed in the discussion-heavy class. After an unsuccessful class debate that stopped us from having debates for the rest of the quarter, I had to write a lengthy email to the professor regarding the referenced student standing up for myself and for my peers, but it paid off (also ended up with a 4.0).
The class material allowed for engaging with various topics such as abortion, euthanasia, and assisted suicide, which was interesting in that it allowed for an opportunity to learn more from the perspectives of others in the UW community on these morally challenging topics. Another challenge was having the motivation to attend class every day over the summer due to its mandatory attendance requirement, but I was proud of myself for rarely missing days.
