PRISON REFORM
I signed up for this class not knowing the topics that we would be exploring. All I knew was that I signed up for an honors writing class to fulfill some requirement. It was unsettling and challenging at times to process some of the heavy topics of prison reform and mass incarceration, but it was satisfying to notice growth in my writing as well as to build a community with a group of talented and unique individuals/writers. The group also consisted of only 12 people, which allowed for our workshopping to be more intimate and for feedback space to feel more safe and non-judgmental. Honors345 is a class where I gained a better sense of what my ideal learning environment looks like and I look forward to being in similar spaces in the future, which is luckily possible because the honors program tends to foster those smaller classes.
