Radio Silence
This song is what struggling with mental health felt like to me during this quarter. It was released right before this school year and the artist behind the song wrote about it saying: "we're all going through it right now. And we're all dealing with it a little differently. This song is about a friend who shuts you out for no reason. And not because of anything you did wrong, but because your friend doesn't know how to deal with that immense pain they feel. They don't want to hurt anyone or show that they're hurting. I was the friend." In another video, Natalie who is the artist describes the song as "when you just wanna turn the world off, and you accidentally turn off some of your close friends as well." I had already resonated with the song, but seeing that just made me feel so seen, comforted, and not alone in the ways I feel. It also was my reminder to allow myself to experience feelings however I need to, regardless of how others view that (as long as it is not harming them or myself). Finally, it reminded me why I enjoy music so much--because it tends to bring people all around the world together over shared experiences and shared emotions.
